The National Police University for criminal justice is the only university directly under the Ministry of justice. It is located in Baoding City, Hebei Province, a famous historical and cultural city. The university is the highest institution in China's judicial administration system, the reserve talent training base of judicial administration system, the training base for leading cadres and senior police officers of judicial administration system, and the innovation base for judicial administration theory research. It is known as the "cradle of judicial police officers".Founded in 1956, the school was formerly known as the reform through labor Cadre School of the Ministry of public security and was under the leadership of the Ministry of justice in 1983. In April 2002, the Central Academy of judicial police officers was officially established, which mainly focuses on general undergraduate education. In October 2011, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a pilot unit for the construction of legal master's degree. In 2016, it became a provincial master's degree construction unit in Hebei Province.As of March 2018, the school covers an area of 422 mu, with a total construction area of 152000 square meters and a teaching room area of 62000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is about 460 million yuan, including 64.02 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment; there are 7 research institutions, 16 modern laboratories and 39 teaching and scientific research practice bases; there are 12 teaching units with 19 undergraduate majors and professional directions; there are 468 teaching staff, 317 full-time teachers and 6264 students.
