Changsha Medical College is a full-time private college approved by the Ministry of education.The predecessor of Changsha Medical College is Xiangnan secondary health vocational and technical school founded by Professor He Binsheng in 1989. In 1996, it was renamed Xiangnan health secondary vocational school. In 1999, it was upgraded to Xiangnan medical college. In 2001, its headquarters moved to Changsha City. In 2005, it was upgraded to Changsha Medical college with the approval of the Ministry of education. It won the title of top ten private schools in Hunan Province in 2006, passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China in 2011, passed the clinical medicine professional certification of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China in 2015, and was listed in the construction site of master's degree awarding units in Hunan Province in 2017.As of October 2019, the school covers an area of 1.415 million square meters, with a construction area of 621100 square meters; it has a collection of 2.4393 million paper books; it has 16 secondary colleges and 28 undergraduate majors; it has 23646 full-time students, including 19487 undergraduates and 332 foreign students; it has 1758 full-time teachers.
